Robert Elton Sell, 84, of Salem, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Salem Community Hospital. Robert was born in Leetonia on November 17, 1925 the son of the late Leroy and Lauretta (Vollmer) Sell; he graduated from Salem High School and was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Sell owned and operated Sells Service Station in Salem for 33 years; he was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Salem. Robert was also very involved in his community. He was a member of the Salem Republican Party, served as 1st Ward Councilman from 1976-1979, the Mayor of Salem from 1980-1987, and in 1988 he was a consultant for Swindell Inc. Mr. Sell leaves behind his wife of 59 years Judith (DeJane) Sell whom he married on July 26, 1950, two daughters Deborah (Richard) Craig of Kent, OH, Dee Jane (Jeffrey) Weber of Cape Coral, FL, a son Charles (Netasha) Sell of Brecksville, OH, seven grandchildren; Zachary and Jacob Weber; Meredith, Armand, and Morgan Craig; and Isaac and Laila Sell. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Christopher, two brothers, Charles and Bill Sell; and a sister Jann Mathey. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00PM.
