Roberta Zagray

September 8, 1933 — July 18, 2013

Roberta G. Zagray, a resident of Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, Ohio, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, Christ Jesus, and greeted into heaven by her husband Allan H. Zagray on July 18, 2013. Roberta was born in Gassaway, West Virginia on September 8, 1933, to Robert Pierson and Grace Pierson Unger. Roberta married Harry Headley (deceased) in 1952 and they had four children, all of whom survive: John (Suzy) Headley of Memphis, TN, Kathryn Weiland of Jersey Shore, PA, James Headley of Delaware, OH, and Joseph (Nancy) Headley of Byron, IL. In 1977, she married Allan H. Zagray and added three daughters to the family: Kristine (Thomas) Galitza on Baneberry, TN, Julie (Joseph) Walter of Charlotte, MI, and Laura (Mitch) Adkins of Hillard, OH. There are ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Roberta is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and she always remembered their birthdays and other special occasions with cards and notes. Besides her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth Pierson and Fred Pierson. Roberta retired from the Coshocton Foundation, Coshocton, Ohio where she served as administrative assistant to the treasurer. She also worked for many years at the East Ohio Conference Credit Union in North Canton, Ohio. As a resident of Copeland Oaks for nine years, Roberta volunteered at the Residents’ Thrift Shop, sang in the Copeland Chorale, and was Treasurer of the Employees’ Christmas Fund until poor health prohibited those activities. Roberta was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends and believed that “all life, including death, falls under the love and care of God.” For her, this was not a “reasonable” assumption, but a faith assumption and lived her life among friends and family reflecting that faith and belief. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at South Lawn Cemetery 1401 Cemetery Drive, in Coshocton, Ohio. Family and friends are welcome to attend; a time of sharing remembrances will be held at Grace United Methodist Church following the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Copeland Care Fund through the Oaks Foundation, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring, OH 44672 or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.
