Russell âDaleâ Beckett, age 87, of Sebring passed away at 11:53 PM, Wednesday December 5, 2007 at Crandall Medical Center. He was born in Sebring on July 9, 1920 to the late Russell M. & Alta K. (Kocher) Beckett. Dale was an army veteran of WW II, a graduate of Sebring High School Class of â38, a life member of the Sebring VFW # 6730 and the American Legion # 76. Mr. Beckett coached Sebring/ West Branch Hot Stove Baseball for 35 years. He was a former Mahoning Co. Deputy Sherriff; past commander of Sebring VFW for 3 terms, served on the all state commanders team for three years, and served as their captain for 2 years and the 3rd year he served as the All American Commander. Dale was employed as a Chief Operator for the Sebring Waste Water Treatment Plant, retiring in 1986. He is survived by 1 daughter Rhonda Edgerton of Wooster; 1 son John Beckett of Brighton, MI; 1 brother Donald Beckett of Grafton; 1 sister Doris McAuley of Lorain and 5 grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife Edna (Carman) Beckett on Jan. 3, 2004; son James Dale Beckett and sister Leona Workman. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Kimball officiating. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.
