Russell Kurena

Russell J. Kurena, 81, of Sebring, passed away at Pleasantview North at 6:55 a.m. on January 8, 2008. He was born on June 22, 1926 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Laddie & Ida M. (Pope) Kurena. Russell was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ. He was a Navy vet, serving his country in WWII. He was employed as a machine repairman for GM, Lordstown plant. He is survived by his wife Gloria J. (Wyss) whom he married on Feb. 23, 1952; 1 daughter Dennis (Gayla) Wutrick of Beloit; 3 sons Scott (Cindy) Kurena of Beloit; Bryan (Bette) Kurena of Alliance; Troy (Dana) Kurena of Stillwater, OK; 2 sisters Dorothy Egert of Piqua, Oh; James (Ruth) Morris of Harrisburg,PA; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Gladys Mayle and Lillian Lee. Services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 with the Rev. Jeff Davis Officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel United Church of Christ or the Diabetes Assoc. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
