Ruth Irene Slabaugh, 82, of Sebring, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Mrs. Slabaugh was born in Alliance on October 22, 1928 the daughter of the late Glenn and Dawn (Bean) Freshley; in her lifetime she worked at Alliance Ware, the Ohio Unemployment Office and she retired from Morgan Engineering as executive engineering secretary. Irene graduated from Alliance High School 1946 as Salutatorian of her senior class. Soon after graduation she married Norman L. Reichenbach of North Georgetown and the settled in Sebring where their three children were born. Norm passed away suddenly in 1953 and Irene went back to work to support her three children. In 1960, Irene married Richard A. Slabaugh of Alliance and they settled in Limaville where her two youngest children were born. Later, Irene returned to work again, this time as a secretary at Morgan engineering. Throughout her adult life as mostly a single mother, Irene worked diligently to raise and support her five boys. Irene loved to go antiquing to find various collectibles and unique items and through the years developed a deep self taught knowledge of this craft. Survivors include her children; Philip (Karen) Reichenbach of Sebring, Jeffrey (Tracy Castello) Reichenbach of Alliance, William Edward Reichenbach of Sebring, Rick Slabaugh of the home, and Scott A. (Makiko) Slabaugh of Alliance, 8 grandchildren; Nathan Reichenbach, Logan Reichenbach and Zak Reichenbach, Melissa (Brian Hunter) Reichenbach, Matt (Jody Ward) Reichenbach, Daniel Reichenbach, Jonathan Reichenbach and Kahana E. Slabaugh, 7 great grandchildren; Kaleb, Destiny, Jarod, Jake, Brooke, Blake and Aiden. She is also survived by her two nephews; Christopher (Angie Moreschi-Jadick) Jadick of Tampa, FL and Joseph Jadick of Canton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norman L. Reichenbach in 1953, her husband Richard A. Slabaugh in 1981 and her sister Dolores Jadick in 2010. A Private Family Burial will be held in North Georgetown Cemetery. Irene will be deeply missed by all those who love her. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home in Sebring.
