Samuel A. Marvin, 73, of Beloit, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Canterbury Villa in Alliance. Sam was born in Akron on September 21, 1936 the son of the late Gilbert and Dorothy (Gaugler) Marvin. Mr. Marvin was a member of the Banks Presbyterian Church in Indian Land, South Carolina; he retired from the General Tire Company in Akron and also was a former employee of the Diamond Salt Company in Kenmore. Sam was a US Army veteran and a member of the Reserves, he belonged to the Akron Masonic Lodge and loved horses, boating and deep sea fishing. Survivors include his wife Charlene (Martin) Marvin of Beloit whom he married on December 23, 1957, a daughter, Teresa (Gary) Beard of Canton, a son Todd (Becky) Marvin of Lancaster, SC, a daughter Rene (Mike) Tuel of Beloit, a son Mark Marvin of Green, OH and a daughter Jennifer (Jason) Linkous of Mt. Holly, NC. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren; Brande, Chase, Josh, Justin, McKenzie, Austin, Taylor, Kirstin, Danielle, Chipper, Bryson and Nathan and a sister Delores Piotter of Ravenna. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother in law Don Piotter and two step-fathers Steve Bersnak and Samuel Allen. A Private family service will be held. The family would like to thank Canterbury Villa for all their care and compassion they showed towards Sam. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
