Sharlene R. Schenk, 81 of Alliance passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Community Care Center in Alliance. Sharlene was born in Alliance on June 11, 1934 the daughter of the late Lorents and Alice (Sanford) Mathison. Mrs. Schenk was a member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ in Alliance, she worked at Alliance Manufacturing and Mt. Union College. Sharlene was a member of the Pythian Sisters, the 40 & 8, a Girl Scout leader for many years, an Auxiliary member of both the American Legion #76 and Alliance DAV.
Survivors include her three children; Linda (Louis) Ringelhan of Marlboro Township, Don (Denise) Schenk of Stinnette, TX Lorents (Lek) Schenk of Thailand, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren, a sister Karen (Delbert) Orr of Alliance, two brothers Victor Mathison of Alliance and Fred (sandy) Taylor, a brother in law Tom Hanes of Youngstown, a sister in law Lee Mathison of Columbus a sister in law Barb Mathison of South Carolina and her special care giver Rena Moff. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Schenk, a sister Joan, a brother Emil, brother Henry and a brother William.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11AM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, November 27th from 6-8PM and an hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring.
