Shirley Wilson

Shirley M. Wilson, age 74, of Beloit, died Thursday May 28, 2009 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Shirley was born in Beallsville, Ohio on May 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Vernard J. and Marie L.( Piatt) Hopton. Shirley was a member of the Tri County Church of Christ. She was a graduate of T.L. Handy High School, Bay City MI, Class of ’54. She was a homemaker who loved knitting, crocheting, gardening and fishing. She is survived by her husband Delbert E. Wilson whom she married on August 21, 1954. Other survivors are her daughter Yvonne (Rick) Stock of Slippery Rock, PA; her son Fred (Rosie) Wilson of Beloit; one sister Faye Smith of Daytona, FL; two brothers Wilber Hopton of East Canton and Mervin Hopton of Lake Helen, FL; 4 grandchildren Tara (Steve) Garmier, Christi (Gary) Bowman, Jacob (Jenna) Wilson and Eric Powell; 2 great grandchildren Madison Garmier and Gary Bowman III. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents and great grandson Joseph Garmier. Services will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home, with Terry Kirsch officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, May 31st from 2 to 8 pm with the family present from 6 to 8 pm, also one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
