Sylvia Townsend

Sylvia L. Townsend, 72 of Beloit died Tuesday morning at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Sylvia was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 23, 1936 the daughter of the late Fred P. and Caroline Louise (Pellet) Roth. She was a member of the North Benton Presbyterian Church and retired from Crandall Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1995. Sylvia was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary George D. Worth Post #574, the Alliance Senior Center and a 50+ year member of Smith Grange where she served as the current Deaf Activities Chairman. Mrs. Townsend is survived by her immediate family; her husband John C. Townsend whom she married June 23, 1956, two daughters; Tami Kocher of Beloit and Vicki (Doug) Barclay of Peachtree City, GA five grandchildren; RJ Kocher of Alliance, Lyndi Barclay of Atlanta, GA, Rachael Kocher of Beloit, Dan Barclay of Atlanta, GA and Rob Kocher of Fairlawn, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Fred P. Roth in 1989. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. John Ryser officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in Sylvia’s honor to the North Benton Presbyterian Church or The Damascus Friends Church. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
