Twila Mae Carner, 90, of Sebring, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 11, 2015 at Crandall Medical Center. Twila was born in Damascus, on March 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Russell B. & Elsie (Karich) Watters. Twila worked at Grinley Pottery in Sebring and volunteered at Damascus Elementary and Alliance Community Hospital. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards and cooking. Church was a big part in her life, where she was a member of Damascus Friends Church. She belonged to the women’s missionary group and was a Sunday school secretary. Twila enjoyed collecting tea cups, spoons and was also a past member of Damascus Magazine Club. Above all, she enjoyed being a housewife, mother and grandmother.
Twila is survived by her two sons, Russell (Dawn) Carner, James (Gale) Carner; two daughters, Elaine (Robert) Owen, Darla (Mike) Butcher; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William and three sisters Genevieve Roose, Juanita Hoffman, and Marcheta Burgess.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday August 14, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Brendlinger and Pastor John Ryser officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Thursday August 13, 2015 and the hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Damascus Cemetery.
