Virgil L. Cobbs, age 89, of Sebring Ohio, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 Crandall Medical Center. He was born in Damascus, Ohio on May 12, 1918 to the late Irven T. and Ada B. (Crossley) Cobbs. Virgil is a 1938 graduate of Beloit High School, a member of the Damscus Friends Church where he served as Superintendent of Sunday School for 14 yearsas well as many other positions. He is a US Army Veteran serving from 1942-1945 primarily in the Coast Artillery at Fort Winfield Scott in San Francisco CA. Virgil also worked for over 40 years at the Deming Pump Co. in Salem. Virgil is survived by his wife Anna L. (Jones) Cobbs whom he married September 6, 1943, a daughter, Patricia Jo (Galen) Rummell of Salem, a son Ted (Kay) Cobbs of Waynesburg, four grandchildren Joe and Karen Cobbs of Waynesburg and Alicia and Abby Rummell of Salem. He is also survived by his sister, Verla Santee of Beloit and a brother Kenneth Cobbs of Sebring. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lois June Cobbs. Services will be held Friday, December 14th at Damascus Friends Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Ryser officiating. Friends may call at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:30-4 PM and 6-8 PM and also one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made in Virgil’s honor to the Life Care Fund at Copeland Oaks 715 South Johnson Road, Sebring, OH 44672 or the Evangelical Friends Mission P.O. Box 525, Arvada, CO 80001. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Friends may view the obituary and sign the guest register on line at www.grfuneralhome.com.
