Together Again Walter L. Benner age 87, of Alliance died at 8:30 AM, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at Canterbury Villa. He was born in Homeworth Ohio on Aug. 30, 1920 to the late Frank & Annie (Stroup) Benner. Walter was a WW II Army Veteran of the 83rd infantry receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal, with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a self employed carpenter; a life member of the George D. Worth American Legion #574; of which he was a former commander, member 40 & 8 in Columbiana Co. Walter is survived by 2 daughters Beverly (Richard) Bright of Deerfield; Barbara Schuttler of Monticello, GA; 1 son Robert (June) Benner of Alliance; 1 brother John Benner of Alliance; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Mr. Benner was preceded by his wife Margaret J. (Rodgers) Benner on March 29, 2000; 4 sisters Luella Kornbau; Thelma Stewart; Helen Murphy; Evelyn Kasso; 3 brothers Hugh, Ray and Charles Benner. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Dec.8 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Thomas Palmer officiating, Friends may call Friday, from 2:00 PM- 8:00 PM with the family present from 6-8. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Friends may view the obituary and sign the guest register on line at www.grfuneralhome.com.
