Wayne "Rocky" Skiba

Wayne “ROCKY” Skiba of Guilford Lake, Ohio, died at 4:31 AM Sunday, September 4, 2011, at home surrounded by his family following a brief illness of cancer. He was 41. Rocky was born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 23, 1969, a son to Gerald Lee Skiba, Sr. & Betty (Smith) Skiba. A 1988 graduate of United Local High School, and he met the love of his life, Tracy Briceland, when he worked at Burger Chef, Salem. They exchanged their vows on March 23, 1991 and together they raised four children. He was the owner & operator of Skiba Roofing & Construction for over 15 years before he took employment at Salem Hospital, where he worked in Housekeeping & Material Management. In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering on his Detroit Lions and being a big fan of Mopar. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife & soul mate, Tracy; his children, Jerritt, Meghan, Ryan & Kaleb Skiba, all at home; his mother, Betty, Salem; his brothers, Scotty, Willis, Gerald Jr. & his wife Lori, Wallace, & Steve Skiba & his wife Pam, all of Salem; his sisters, Cindy Skiba & her fiancé Matt, & Sherrie Moore, both of Salem, In-laws, Butch & Bonnie McGaffic, and Mike Wilson; sister-in-law, Lindsay McGaffic; and his maternal grandmother, Ileana Briceland. He was preceded in death by his father. Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 4 to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Brown Funeral Home, 510 Jennings Ave., Salem, OH. A Funeral Service in Rocky’s honor will be Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.
