Wilda Shirley

Wilda Jean Shirley, 86, of Sebring and formerly of Deland and Port Orange Florida, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring. Wilda was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 28, 1923 the daughter of the late Alfred Clifford Newman and Marthe Gertrude (Lee) Newman. She worked as a waitress at several Cleveland restaurants and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Shirley is survived by her two daughters; Rita Staraitis of North Jackson, OH, Naomi Dale of Austinburg, OH and a son Edward Tompkins of Mentor, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two step-daughters; Susan Baker of Navarre and Nancy Kelly of Mt. Pleasant, SC, 5 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Edward Tompkins and her second husband Jack Shirley on July 28, 2009.
