William Howell

William Thomas Howell, 72 of Alliance passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family at his side at 10:55PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on November 25, 1938 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Blaine and Delphine (Lewis) Howell, he lived most of his life in Alliance and received his education through the Alliance School system. He retired from Transue and Williams after 38 years of service. Mr. Howell was a US Navy Veteran, a member of US Boilermakers Union; and he enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include two sons; Christopher Howell of Cincinnati, Andrew Howell of the Philippines, three daughters; Debra (Steve) Toussant of Bowerston, OH, Barbara Howell and her partner Hilary Epstein of Neptune City, NJ and Ada Dawn McClure of Louisville with whom he made his home. Also surviving him are 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, two sisters Sara (William) Crawford, Dixie (Larry) Blake both of Beloit, four brothers Jon Howell of Kensington, Blaine M. II (Renee) Howell of Kensington, Dennis (Linda) Howell of North Benton, and Jeffrey (Linda Jo) Howell of Kearneysville, WV. Several nieces, nephews, along with many great nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his best friend Anne, two brothers Michael who died on Feb. 3, 2006 and Lewis who died as an infant on Jan. 3, 1940 and an infant sister Ada Dawn Howell who passed away on Sept. 14, 1942. A Service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home with Rev. Thomas Almon officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home the hour prior tot the service on Tuesday. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
