William "Bill" Stewart

Bill A. Stewart, 72, of Alliance passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center.  William was born in Alliance on September 4, 1942, the son of the late Joseph E. and Betty J. (Snyder) Stewart; he was a graduate of Goshen High School, and served in the Army during the Vietnam War while also being stationed in Germany and Korea. Bill also served in the Old Guard Regiment, Washington D C.  Bill worked as a bus driver for Alliance City School Systems as well as West Branch School Systems, and the former E.W. Bliss Company. Bill was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Alliance, Life member of the Alliance Elks B.P.O.E. #467, Alliance V.F.W, American Legion, Conrad Masonic Lodge Alliance and Tadmor Shrine Akron, Ohio. His interests included traveling, golf, bowling but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his son, William A. (Terri) Stewart Jr of Damascus, a daughter Rebecca A. Stewart of Alliance, step-grandson, Rob Ackerman, brother Daniel J. (Sandra) Stewart of Indianapolis, Indiana, mother-in-law, Catherine Wayne of Alliance, and his longtime companion of 23 years, Karen Morris and family of Alliance, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Debra J. (Sinclair) Stewart on August 27, 1992, a sister Jo Ann Menegay on June 10, 1997 and a niece Jill (Menegay) Skeens on June 11, 2014.

Family will receive friends at 10 AM with at Memorial Service beginning at 11 AM on July 18, 2015 at First United Presbyterian Church, 425 East Market St., Alliance, Ohio 44601. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elks B.P.O.E. #467, 606 Glamorgan St., Alliance 44601, Tadmor Shrine Akron, 3000 Krebs Dr., Akron OH, 44319 or the Aultman Compassionate Hospice Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave., Canton, OH 44708.  Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home Sebring, OH (330) 938-2526.
